Lincolnton Woman Charged with Identity Theft

Lincolnton, NC –

A Lincolnton woman has been charged with identity theft after the unauthorized use of another person’s debit card.

On May 7, 2019 the victim, Judy Headley of Denver, NC, filed a report with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in reference to the unauthorized use of the debit card. The victim told Detective D. Houser she noticed her debit card missing after a trip to Wendy’s in Denver and upon examining her bank statement she discovered several completed and attempted unauthorized transactions. She contacted her bank and reported the items as fraud.

The victim then contacted Wendy’s restaurant, the last location she knew she had possession of the debit card and was informed that the card was in the restaurant. Detective Houser conducted an investigation into the matter and discovered an employee of the Wendy’s location, Breiana Lei McAfee, 18, of Lincolnton, NC, was the person responsible for making the unauthorized charges using the numbers from the debit card.

McAfee was arrested on June 27, 2019 and charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and two counts of identity theft. She was booked into the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center for processing and released after posting a $15,000 secured bond.
