Routine West Lincoln Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest: Cocaine and Meth found

Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop early Tuesday (July 2, 2019) morning near the intersection of Reepsville Road and Cat Square Road.  Upon arrival officers noticed a pickup truck pulling a trailer in the parking lot of Cat Square Superette.  Emergency equipment was activated when the truck attempted to leave the parking lot.  Deputies located two people inside the truck and a third person in the truck bed.   While speaking with the individual’s deputies noticed a black zip-up container on the floorboard behind the driver’s seat.  The occupants were asked to exit the vehicle and a search of the container turned up 11 grams of methamphetamine and 1 gram of crack cocaine along with digital scales.

The driver of the vehicle, Richard Lee Cooper was charged with one felony count each of possession with the intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was placed in jail under a $15,000 secured bond. The other two individuals were not charged.
