Lincolnton, NC – L TOWN RADIO
Residents of Lincoln County will be able to enjoy a cup of coffee, or a Chick-fil-A treat, with a police officer Wednesday, October 2 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. This is an annual national event that the Lincolnton Police Department has participated in before.
In the past, these events have been sponsored by local restaurants and coffee shops. The Lincolnton Chick-fil-A volunteered this year to host. Lincolnton PD has also invited the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to participate.
Lincolnton Police Chief Rodney Jordan is excited about this event. “This is just an opportunity to sit down with neighbors and the community to share a cup of coffee and just talk about anything of interest,” he said. “Being able to interact with the community at events like this allows us to build relationships and trust that is needed to develop partnerships with the community to help keep our neighborhoods safe and friendly. Putting a face with a name goes along way in accomplishing those tasks. It gets us all working together to make and keep Lincolnton the nice small town it is.”
In a press release by the police department, it was noted that “the majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.”
The Lincolnton Chick-fil-A is located at 1904 E Main St.
