Former Lincolnton Lawyer John O. Lafferty Jr. arrested for the second time

John O. Lafferty Jr. was found and arrested late in the night in Carteret County, N.C. He was arrested on-site and has a cash-only bond of a million dollars because of a bench warrant issued by Judge Forrest Bridges after Lafferty failed to appear in court on Monday, September 30. According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lafferty was picked up by his bondsman and is currently in jail.

Lafferty, a long time Lincolnton Lawyer, is accused of felony embezzlement of more than $100,000. The former attorney has been disbarred since April 2019. He was arrested last week also in Carteret County, N.C. and was freed on a quarter-million dollar bond pending a first appearance in Lincoln County Superior Court which he failed to make.
