Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives have charged a Lincolnton man with the theft of a pickup truck.
Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on May 24, 2019 on Victory Grove Church
Road, Lincolnton, NC. Alexander Campos reported that his 2013 Ford F-150 had been taken.
As the investigation got underway Dustin Logan Ensley, 29, of Gastonia Highway, Lincolnton, NC became a suspect in the theft of the vehicle.
On May 30, 2019 the stolen truck was involved in a vehicle chase in Cleveland County that
ended in Lincoln County after officers unable to stop or locate the vehicle. Later that day Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle call on Hauss Road, Lincolnton, NC. The vehicle was the truck involved in the Cleveland County chase and left unattended. The pickup truck was processed and vehicle returned to the owner.
A short time later detectives were notified about two suspicious females walking in the area where the truck was recovered. After interviewing the females, deputies learned that Ensley was the driver of the truck in the chase and had fled the scene on foot. Adam District deputies
searched the area and took Dustin Ensley in custody nearby where the truck had been abandoned.
Ensley was charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle and felony possession of a stolen vehicle. He was also served a probation violation warrant. He is being held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond on the vehicle charges and a no bond hold
on the probation violation. His first appearance in court will be on June 3, 2019. Additional charges are expected to be filed.

Detective D. Snellings, Sgt. A. Alvarado, and Deputies A. Sutton and L. Leonard.
