Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators arrested two people on drug-related charges following a vehicle chase in southeastern Lincoln County.
On February 21, 2020 narcotics officers were conducting surveillance on a known drug house near Randleman Road when they observed a vehicle leave the residence. Officers followed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop when they discovered the vehicle had an expired registration.
Detectives activated their blue lights and siren and the vehicle sped away. They chased the vehicle for more than seven miles before it pulled into the residence on Antler Drive, Iron Station. During the chase the occupants threw a handgun and drug paraphernalia out the window. The items were recovered by officers.
Phillip Eugene Thomas, 34, of Antler Drive, Iron Station was charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony fleeing to elude arrest in a motor vehicle. Thomas was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center before being released after posting a $25,000 secured bond.
Britney Morgan Lingerfelt, 30, of Antler Drive, Iron Station was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and resist, delay and obstructing a public officer. During processing at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center, officers discovered methamphetamine hidden in a body cavity. Lingerfelt was also charged with possession of a controlled substance in a penal facility. She is in jail under a $40,000 secured bond. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected to be filed.
