Lincolnton Man Charged with Failing to Register a Change of Address as a Convicted Sex Offender

A Lincolnton man has been charged with failing to register a change of
address as a sex offender living in Lincoln County.
On May 28, 2019 Detective Mark Stamey received information from Probation and Parole that Noah James Sopczak, 31, had moved from a residence where he lived in the 700 block of Allen
Lane, Lincolnton, NC and had not lived there since April 2019.

On May 31, 2019 Detective Stamey went to the residence where Sopczak was supposed to be living and discovered new occupants were living at the rental home. On June 3, 2019 a warrant was obtained charging Sopczak with failure to register a change of address for a convicted sex
offender. He was arrested and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond on the failure to register charge. He is also charged with probation violation and is under a no bond hold for that charge.

Lincoln County has 175 registered sex offenders living in the county.
