A registered sex offender who failed to report a change of address was taken into custody Thursday night. (October 31, 2019)
Adam District deputies received information that Allen Joseph Heckelman, 30, was at a residence on Rhodes Rhyne Road. Officers went to the address and while speaking with the resident Heckelman was located outside. After a struggle with the suspect, officers were able to take him into custody and place Heckelman in a patrol car.
While in the back seat of the patrol car the suspect spit inside the back passenger area and through the cage into the front of the vehicle.
Deputies had been looking for Heckelman after he failed to report a new address after being evicted from a residence on Rustic Drive, Lincolnton on October 11, 2019. He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and charged with two misdemeanor counts of resist, delay and obstructing a public officer, one felony count of malicious conduct by a prisoner, one felony count of failing to register a change of address by a sex offender and one felony count of parole violation. He was given a $25,000 secured bond plus a no-bond hold on the parole violation.
