Two people are facing charges in connection with the theft of a Smith and Wesson .357 pistol.
Richard Smith, the victim, told Detective M. Burgess that he suspected two individuals that he had allowed to live at his residence. He said he didn’t notice the pistol missing until they moved from his home on Hilltop Road.
Detective Burgess observed video surveillance at hotels the two suspects had been living but did not located the pistol. Based on information learned from the surveillance video, interviews were conducted with the suspects which led to their arrests.
Carrie Medford McDaniel, 39, of South Railroad Street, Gastonia, NC and Waylon Lee Wilson,37, of Lowe Street, Mount Holly, NC were each charged with felony larceny of a firearm and felony possession of stolen goods. In addition, McDaniel was charged with resist, delay and obstruct a public officer.
McDaniel was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and ordered held under a $21,000 secured bond. Bond for Wilson was set at $10,000 secured.
